Does 13 & 1/8 inches sound right from the trigger to the edge of the buttstock? (Shotgun stocked model, like an Auto 5).

So I received my Model 81 with Marbles peep sight. It is a beauty! The peep is pretty neat but I see it's not windage adjustable. I have found my Turkish 8mm Mauser stripper clips to work just fine for loading my .35 Remington. I hear Swede clips (6.5x55) work for the .300 Savage but I haven't had a rifle yet to try with.
The specific clips for these rifles I'll end up trying to get also at some point. Congrats on your find!

I recall a friend getting a "powder trickler" many years ago and loving it.
I will have to get rid of some basement furniture to fit the reloading table but I'm not really using that old dresser anyway. Habitat for Humanity is my chosen charity when it clearing out rooms.

Could a fellow simply swap a .30 Remington barrel assembly for a .300 Savage and be safe to shoot or is that just insane?

Someone else with more know-how will chime in but I would try cyano acrylic glue for that. I think "Super Glue" is the same thing. After it's glued you may want to use a dollar bill or the ink method to see if the handguard is contacting the barrel assembly. If so, you could relieve some w...

I found three Model 8's that I liked. 1 each of .25, .30, and .35 calibers, all with the Auto 5 shotgun profile buttstock BUT they had already been spoken for. My hunt for such will continue. See what you Rem Nuts have done to me?

I tried my tool (this one in the thread) and it fits the muzzle like a glove. I think I'll disassemble my Model 8 and 81's (when they get here) this week and do some detailed cleaning.

Oops! Sent that as a PM by mistake......still getting used to this forum. The fire occurred many years ago, in the 1960's, and the property grew back up and was sold in the 1980's....I assume there could be some rusted mass of a burned up rifle in the remains of the foundation but I don't even remem...

OMGosh! This is soooo cool! I have a 1940's A5 I bought years ago but hate that 2-handed loading proceedure. Now I can do away with that and it's not a permanent thing. Definitely doing some squirrel hunting with the A5 next fall.

Holy moly! I just bought that same tool on ebay a few hours ago and for the same price! I'll have to do the tear downs in my dad's garage since my vise is impossible to get to right now. I'll try to post pics.

I am really looking forward to seeing how these peep sights on these weapons work. Other than an Enfield, M1 Garand, and AR 15, I have no experience with peep sights. I do plan to hunt with these Remingtons I've bought.
