not much else of the story, the rifle was posted on a public forum for sale that I had come across. I had heard the seller was not very willing to sell out of state, he wanted a local pickup. I received a few pictures of the rifle, definitely authentic. Nice find, we can't wait to see your pictures!

About 2 years ago I mentioned I'd do a Model 8 carbine video, well here it is better late than never! The barrel assembly, built by Pete Verschneider, is 17" and the rifle's overall length is 35.5", it's a thumper! The link below will take you to the video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

I'll chime in with some agreement, I'm not a fan of the Polychoke, but have a '63 A5 Light 12 with a Cutts Compensator and an older "Browning" marked recoil pad. I was lucky enough that the shotgun came with 4 chokes. I ended up getting a reproduction Cutts 12ga choke wrench to go along wi...

The Model 8 & 81 values are from the 31st Edition of the Blue Book of Gun Values. They have certainly gone up over the last few years, but these are just estimates used as a guideline for value. The RIA auction showed us some high prices, especially on the higher grade rifles. I'm in agreement w...

Dru, The marking to which you're refering, the "F" and the circled "K" have nothing to do with the grade (class) of the rifle. These are simply fitter's/assembler's markings. Below is a rough breakdown of the five grades of Model 8... A grade (also known as #1 or standard grade) ...

I've seen the occasional Model 81 with them also. I don't think they were a standard item as the majority of rifles I've seen don't have them.
As a side note F.B.I. Model 81's came standard with them. We got another article coming soon regarding that with pictures.
