Never .25, but I bought a ton of .32 and some .35 WSL from him. It's good serviceable ammo, just not always the prettiest. As in he sometimes doesn't send his brass through the tumbler. Other than that I've never had any complaints. Just don't catch him on a bad day when you call.

I think the worst stock I ever did was my buddies Chi-com SKS in highschool. My father drove the tanker for a local fuel distributor... That stock hung in a tank of 87 octane for a couple days. Definately not for a good piece of Walnut, but worked great for the SKS.

I have Winchester figures up to 1-1-11. 25445 1905 SLR's, 24014 1907's, and 4766 1910's. Seems like they may have outproduced Remington.

Production and sales figures...
After paging through some of my vintage hunting magazines, 1910-1914, I've noticed none of the hunting photos have a model 8. Amazingly, many of the photos have Winchester autoloaders included. It has me thinking that perhaps after years of the Winchester lever rifles dominating the market, the name...

Well, it's not an '05, but I found a 1929 vintage 1907 SLR to keep my 1929 model 8 company. The 1919 Police Positive goes well with them too.

Problem solved... I traded the Savage and a POS Erma PPK knock off for a Colt Police Positive. Now to find some .38 S&W ammo. On a side note, nobody in NE Ohio has seen a model 8 in ages gauging by the number of offers my wife and I had for my POS at the Ashtabula show.

Well this is another project that will never get done. The replacement stock I found has the length of pull cut down about 2.5 inches. It's all about a good tight position and natural point of aim. Your not shooting the "hair off the nat's a$$, your aiming for the center of the nat's mass and consistently placing rounds into the same POA.

I took my cobbled together model 8 out this evening. The 81 year old rifle with 50ish year old 150 grain round nose soft points performed well enough at a measured 196 yards. Not my finest shooting but I'll take it given the 20mph r-l crosswind. http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g27/aguy123/8-1.jpg ...

My load data is a bit dated, I was paging through the Lyman 45th edition. Out of a 26" barrel, 33 grains of reloader 11 gives 2602fps at 30,000 CUP, and 37.5 grains gives 2900 at 38600 CUP.
