Re: Browning A5 or Remington 11

Clint,That is one pretty shotgun. Go ahead and bid I promise I won`t try to outbid you. Noticed the same seller has a clean 20Ga. A5 that is a little closer to my limit depending on what the reserve is. Joe

Re: Browning A5 or Remington 11

Ditto to Remcrazy`s reply. Only real difference other than the finish and perhaps a higher grade wood is that the Rem 11 lacks the magazine cutoff switch that is on the A5. While handy to allow changing out a chambered round say buckshot for a load of 8`s on the A5, you can accomplish the same thing...

Thanks for the compliments. Remcrazy unknowingly helped me out with the pattern. His Gunbroker listing of a checkered 81 awhile back when blown up to 200 percent image gave me a pattern I could trace and duplicate from the computer.Ah the marvels of modern technology. I`ve attached a couple photos o...

Model 8/81 Scope mount alternative

Wildgoose posted his retro deer rig and got me to working on mine. Thanks I needed the encouragement. This 81 came to me with some damage (dents ) on the rounded portion of the receiver.I intended to scope it and thought the base would cover the damage. Also gave me an excuse to drill holes in an old...

Re: Stith for M8/81?

The Stith mount from Fleabay came in.As I hoped the front mount is perfect with all screws.I removed the large ring that was probably for a K4 or similar belled scope and replaced with a straight one inch tube that I had. This will be used with a K2.5 or K3. The rear mount is a real puzzle.Indeed it ...

Took my latest M81 out for a test shoot today. Using factory Winchester 300 Savage ammo 150 grain Spire Points it shot pretty darn well at 100 yards. But I did have two failures to feed out of twenty rounds. Both were on the second shot from a full mag of four. Seems the round bounced up when it hit...

Jim, I agree with the answer of the marketing manager at Hornady being in line for a fat bonus.Of the variety of calibers offered by Hornady in the Leverevolution loading only the 30-30 shows a significant difference that I can see. This is why the 30-30 people with Marlin and Winchester lever guns a...

Re: Pre Model 11

Good price for that one. Gluing the forends works pretty good but as you may know the weak point is at the receiver end.I have repaired dozens of A5`s and Model 11`s with the splits there. My fix in addition to gluing involves removing the strip of wood that is in the cutout inside if it is still th...

30 Remington ammo on Gunsinternational.com

30 Remington Ammo Guns International #100157588 .I saw this listing and it appears at least by the boxes to be recent manufacture. Price was $30 for full box of 20 (had 3) and $25 for partial box of 15. Hope this might help those looking for ammo and some decent brass for reloads.
