Re: 35 remington loads
might have some feeding issues with the C.O.L being to short, but There are the same diameter bullet so I see no reason they would be unsafe as long as you take your time to work up the load, like to hear what others have to say as I shoot a 25 rem and havent reloaded any 35 rem

This is all hyper but I just had the crazy thought that someone was trying to make it release the safety automatically when charging the action, just a wild thought with out a pic to go off of.

Long wait for brass
I got off the phone with buffaloarms to ask if they had a better date for when they might get some 30 rem brass, cause last time I called in late October, I was told mid February. this time I was told since there has been a large demand on everything like .223 and all the common stuff Remington didn...

Re: Old Ammo-How Safe?
the safest route to tell if a case is good, is clean them first, In your case i would soak the loaded rounds in kroil oil or some type of gun oil to neutralize the powder and primer just in case there is any possibility it would go off, this does a good job to prevent it, and yes you could pull load...

Lee case gauges
I was hoping a reloader on here would be able to give me quick answer. I was wondering if any of the lee case gauges would give the proper length for 25 remington, if not Ill do my research. And Just a thought It would be helpful to new reloaders and many others if a thread could be stickied with li...

Re: stuck trigger group pin
I Don't know if you have tried pounding it out from both sides but i found on model 8 that one side is smaller then the other, but the correct way to get the pin out is with the apropitiate sized punch and hammer, mine only needs a couple small taps to do so

I have been a little OCD on this gun it was my grandpas deer rifle used and abused but I have kept all the original factory parts some repaired with welds and filed :? , the only part that's not factory is one screw courtesy of 81police. My point being bluing scares the crap out of me that I will ta...

Re: reblueing
I'm fairly Unfamiliar with that process. Is that the use of slow rust blue chemical, de-ionized water carting and linseed oil? I have looked on the web and talked to a few buddies on bluing but most of what i find is not what i would like to try on a gun of this caliber.

reblueing
I'm almost done sanding out all the pits and about to start sanding with 1000 grit to get that nice mirror finish, does anyone have a place they like to get things blued at? I would like it to be someone who is fairly familiar with the model 8 just so I know they will respect it and treat it right, ...

Re: Brass not ejecting.
I would start by cleaning the bolt, if the ejector pin is dirty and sticking the extractor might not be able to remove the shell, also check your magazine indicator assembly if it misaligned with the mag it could cause the bolt to lock back, I'm thinking you might have 2 problems with what your sayi...

Re: Damaged Bolt Knob
looks like inter-granular fracture, sense there doesn't appear to be any shearing I would say its just a old part that had some structural flaw in the metal when it was made and over time just work its way out, although at the front of the operating handle mine are all flat your seems to have a bit ...

Re: Frozen take down lever
I have found that sometimes just trying to tighten it more then loosening it will free a screw if its stuck from rust or old oil, If that doesn't work try using some oil to free it, kroil, wd40 but be careful with wd40, if is still stuck I would move on to using light force, tapping it with a small ...

Your idea of using a Tray is great, I think I'm going to steal it and use a Magnetic tray for that extra bit of security not to loose it. Does anyone know how they kept them in during manufacture

safety detent thoughts
I am in the process of reblueing, and I just got to sanding the side with the safety detent. I do believe that I will have to take the detent out to reblue but am not sure, figured I see what opinions are out there on this. Is loctite still the best way to put it back in?

thanks a lot, I don't care as long as it works, I am fixing up my grandpas 1913 model 8 in .25 he passed a few years ago and my dad had this gun in his closet so i took it as he didn't even know what it was and letting it rust, sadly I do believe it will need to be re-blued but id rather have a shoo...

If the mag spring is put in facing the wrong direction it can lead to feeding problems, Don't know if this would cause your problem but that's where I would start.

Barrel Lock screw
I'm on the hunt for a barrel locking screw for a model 8 chambered in .25 Remington I do believe that this screw is interchangeable between the 8 and 81 any info as to if this is true would be great or as where to find one. As I don't think paying a guns smith 35 bucks to make a screw the size of .2...
