Alabama Hunt 2013
Seventh year at Indian Creek Lodge, Greenville,Alabama. Great folks and prime Whitetail country. Thanks to John Shirling and staff for another great year and hunt. This 8 point was chasing a doe in a green field at 140 yards +. Apologize that I didn`t have an 8 or 81 along. At least the rifle was an...

Very Nice ! Handsome family. The shotgun is nice too. If you have problems with the firing pin in the future, it appears the same as those for an A5 or a Mod 11. If you have need to locate one and can`t I have a few extra. Certainly have reason to be proud of all in your photos. Joe

Welcome to you. I second the thoughts of Dewalt about the 30 Remington. Maybe I`m just getting older and have had enough of getting beat up with recoil. Shooting the 8 in 30 Rem is a pleasure and the reloading is not a big deal. Keep an eye out here and do a search on-line from time to time for 30 R...

Nothing so far Roger. I hunted a swamp this morning.Shots limited to about 50 yards in the thick stuff so the iron sights on the 8 are enough. Resisting adding "New" 8`s and 81`s
All, Resistance to our shared affliction has been discussed on many threads. Given unlimited funds I`m sure most of us would soon be out of room to store the 8`s and 81`s added to the collection. The funds unlimited not being in my future, new additions have been at a standstill for awhile. That, an...

Pitchy, That sounds like an interesting load for the 35 . I`ve never loaded anything heavier than 200gr Core-Lokts or Hornady RN for my 35`s. Pressure is fine with that load and should be a very effective hunting round with recoil in the tame area. The load I like most is the 200gr RN with 37.5 grs ...

Good find. A Redfield 102 would cover up some but not all the holes. A Williams FP 81 sight might utilize 2 of the holes as it required two extra. Don`t understand the extra 4 holes. Maybe a smith made up his own design. Either the Redfield or Williams sight will require some searching. Good luck, Joe
