Re: Remington spanner wrench Project ** pic heavy

We put in about 2 hours last night lining out the final steps of these wrenches. Instead of bending the bushing wrench ends 90 degrees (that would be too easy !) we matched the forming radius of the original bushing wrench ends, cut a forming die block to match that radius, and now are nearly ready...

Re: Remington spanner wrench Project ** pic heavy

We made some more progress last night. We have completed the spanner wrench end by rounding out the tips to the same dimensions as the original wrench. Tested each individually with an old barrel nut and they all fit perfect. Moving right along! http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x82/cat9x/spanner1...

Remington spanner wrench Project ** pic heavy

I thought I'd fill you guys in on a current project. I have undertook the task of making a very limited number of factory model 8 spanner wrenches (Remington part # 107) from an original provided by Bob Creamer. The original wrenches, which only a couple are known to exist today, were stamped and b...

chopper, I think you did good. That model 81 is very clean and the blueing looks spectacular. It appears to have a factory sling swivel in the stock. If you can find a matching front, the hole for that is in the barrel jacket just forward of the forearm. The Williams block sight you have required th...

Re: 1920 Model 8 35 Rem

Pags, Your buttplate is most definitely not original. With a grade of wood like that, a lack of markings, and non-factory checkering, I would say the stock set is a replacement. The wood looks far too prominent to simply be refinished. That's one of the nicest replacement's i've seen anyways; I thin...

Re: 1920 Model 8 35 Rem

Pags, welcome to the forum! Your rifle appears to be a standard "A" grade model 8. The checkering on the wood, in my opinion, is not factory as almost all Remington M8 checkering of the day was single bordered and I've never seen a pattern like that (forearm or stock). It's pretty no doubt! I cannot...

James, Welcome to one of the coolest forums around! What you believe to be the front sling swivel is actually the forearm take down screw...don't feel dumb as it's likely been confused for that since its conception. Never heard of that shoez. All standard 81's had the serial number placed directly below the "Remington" marking not "the Woodsmaster". Have you removed the forearm? Many times you will find the serial number stamped on the barrel shroud as a second location. Do you have a scope mount or receiver si...
