Re: Remington's Models 14 and 141
I have a 14 in 25 Rem. Something I learned early on is use only round nosed bullets. Anything else will hang up inside the feed system and you have to disassemble the gun to clear it.

M14 stripper clips work pretty good, too. About .50 apiece.

Re: Recommended ammo for .35 Model 8
I've used almost exclusively the 200 grain bullets, but a couple of years ago I came across some Remington 150gr spitzers at a pawn shop in SW Alabama. 4 boxes and I've never seen any more of it. I shot a few in the old 81 and they seemed to group ok but the recoil was awful. The Hornady 200 grain F...

Well, flapdoodle. Check some pawn shops. I've occasionally found odd calibers like .35 there.cmdrico7812 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 10, 2020 9:57 amThanks, that'll be another one to watch. Unfortunately they are all sold out.

Re: New Member
I've used Hornady 117 gr spitzers with good success in mine, over a hot charge of 3031. Very pleasant shooting with good accuracy. I bought a short rail section that fits the two rear sight screws from a member here. It holds a micro red dot sight that makes the rifle that much more fun to shoot.

Re: The 566-example
Methinks someone has replaced the barrel jacket with one from a model 8. Good eyes Bandersnatch! So the rear sight maybe, but I don't think barrel assemblies between 8/81's and FN 1900's are interchangeable. The receivers are recessed differently for the takedown screw and jacket head. Great lookin...

Ooh, a nice little group in the center. Seems to shoot well.

Still a buck a day in AL, but limited to total of three for all combined seasons. Now, we can take a doe a day all season long!
That .25 ought to do just fine for the critters you have there.

Very good. The holes seemed a trifle large for a .30.
I have sometimes considered a mount like this but I've been leery of putting so much weight on those two screws.

Re: FS: Rear Picatinny Red Dot Mount.
Just my two cents, but I think it should be a bit longer, out beyond the hand guard, with a band of some sort around the barrel jacket. This way not too much weight is put on the two sight screws and one could mount a scout scope.

I like the non-permanent mods that can always be removed and the rifle returned to stock config if necessary. Great little addition! My dad once had the same pad on a Springfield M1A and liked it. Bet that's a comfortable shooter! I'll take her out this next week, whenever this Noah type flood lets...

https://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b178/bandersnatch45/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20200312_1034332.jpg A little something I found to make scope use on the ole springpole more comfy.
