I have a winchester choke tube out of sheet metal that does good; it just won't hold up on a stubborn barrel nut. & a heavy duty barrel bushing tool would help too.

Canuck, you might also consider a semi-pistol grip Model 8 stock, it may be an easier fitup. I personally really like the looks of the A5 stock in place, Plus one could get a FN shotgun buttplate for a close fit. I am glad to see this one did not go to the part scrappers. I am in process of a restor...

If your going to drill & tap consider a Williams 5D, they have considerable windage. The sight mounts on the left side of the receiver and wings over the top.

If you check the SAAMI dimensions we find the 300S rim is about .006 larger than the 35R. I've 2 bolts for the 300S an the size is consistently larger. We may be able to match a 35R to a 300S bolt; don't know but I plan to try it. The reverse I'm relatively sure would not allow the action to close. ...

I agree with Cam. Plus from personal experience the holes drilled in the rec'v'r for the tang screw are at different angles for the curved or straight grips. He is also correct the screws are different lengths. Meaning we have to deal with 3 different holes accepting different length fasteners. Wish...

I've also used "medical freeze" spray to shrink threaded parts. It can break loose rust frozen stuff. Heat the outside, freeze the inside. It can help.

Yeah, I use a Limbsaver, the 300sav is a bit sharper than the rest of our Ladies calibers. No where near the 45-70 in a Marlin though.
