stu_2, welcome aboard. You are getting the right stuff from these restoring vets. Couple of thoughts: These rifles were state of the art back when but they were only intended as minute-of-deer - great fun to shoot and reliable straight shooters but they never did put three inside a quarter at 100yds...

A friend (who is no longer with us) made me a special tool that worked on all of mine (20+ over the years) - if it helps any it was based on the 1900 tool. But... I am aware of two model 8 barrels that never did come apart, and one of those I personally was involved with... basically destroyed my ne...

It's hard to get past the guns on top of B&C's car. There is no reasonable explanation for these guns being anything other than the ambush posse's guns. Other law enforcement officers, not involved in the ambush, would not place their firearms up there. I mean Clyde is still in the car with his hea...

You seem to have the wherewithal to make things happen... you might look at 30-30 brass. Not that I'm a reloader (Shhhhh, Joe.) but a lot of folks have found them readily available and fairly easy to convert to 25Rem, 30Rem or 32Rem. For what it's worth, couple times a year I do see old correct head...
