Was the .300 Savage made in the Model 8?

Howdy, Here is another question from a guy who is still learning. I was talking with a guy the other day about the Remington Model 8. One thing led to another and he asked me if I had a Model 8 in the .300 Savage. I said "No, I didn't know they made a Model 8 in .300 Savage". He told me he had one. ...

Re: Frank Hamer's Rifle

Hey Cam, I enjoyed reading the new information about Frank Hamer. I would think that setting the record straight is good. It certainly helps those of us interested in the history of these rifles to know what the facts are about the various options and features of the rifle. A good job of investigati...

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the help in locating one of these hard to find rifles. A special thanks to model8man who gave me the lead from an old Gun Broker posting. One down and many more to find.

Hey Robo, Birds of a feather do flock together!!! I use to do stained glass for stress release when I was working in the healthcare field. I have made several pieces and have just given them away as presents for well deserving friends and relatives. I have started a Tiffany lamp reproduction for my ...

Hi Robopump, Welcome aboard. It is always good to get new guys with new thoughts and ideas. You have some nice looking firearms. How long have you been into the 8's and 81's? I, for one, will be looking forward to some of your tips on tearing down and cleaning these rifles. I am interested in the ol...

Re: Reminton Model 8 25-35

Randy, Thanks for the reply. Do you happen to know the seller's name or code name used on Gun Broker? If I can identify the seller, I might be able to backtrack and do a search for that seller and dro[ him an email. Did you happen to ask any questions of the seller when you were bidding? I know when...

Reminton Model 8 25-35

Hey Guys, I am looking for an older Model 8 that has the 25-35 on the receiver. I am told there are some out there but I haven't had much luck in locating one. I chatted with "citori" on the Cabella's forum and he indicated they are very hard to find particularly since you can't get ammunition for t...

Re: Mod. 81 FBI

Hey Kody, What a great looking rifle. I am sure you are proud of it. I read about the FBI model in Henwood's book but it left me with more questions than answers. I will be anxious to see what you and 81police can put together on this rifle. It would be nice to know if there are other FBI issued rif...

Re: Serial # 59 for sale

Hey 81Police, Are you the new owner of this rifle? If you are, I want you to know that I feel better about the bidding process at Gun Broker. I still have reservations about the sellers reservation to answer questions and that was the main reason that I quit bidding. If you have some additional pict...

Re: Serial # 59 for sale

I bid on that gun! I quit at $824.30. The bidding was strange and I felt it was being run up on me. Anyway, I went past my limit given the fact that some of questions about the gun left me concerned. It was a "buy as is, no inspection and no return. I have been burnt on a few auctions like this one ...

Re: Gun Broker and similar sites

Hey Guys, Thanks for the thoughts. I have been one of those NR bidders and hope that I haven't caused any difficulty. I don't know how you get rated unless you are successful in the bidding process. It seems to me that some auctions aren't as important as others and you don't run into the bidding is...

Gun Broker and similar sites

Hey Guys, I am sure many of you search the web for opportunities to acquire items of interest. Have any of you had issues with Gun Broker and it's bidding process? Re: BARREL WRENCH

Hey, Thanks for the additional information. Every little bit helps. I am going to spend some time this winter trying to refine this tool and see if I can come up with something that all of us Remington 8 & 81 users can use. It is just hard for me to believe that there isn't something out there that ...

police81, Thanks for the reply. It was not my intention to question your decision and in fact I respect your reasoning. Re: BARREL WRENCH

I recall seeing an article about the barrel wrench in a manual about dis-assembly of the Model 8. If someone can get me the dimensions of the wrench or an acurrate facsimile of the wrench, I have someone that can fabricate a model and I would make it available, unlike the fellow in the other article...

Re: BARREL WRENCH

If the barrel wrench is not readily available, what are people using in its place? I would hope there is something available other than a pipe wrench and vise grips!!
