Re: What have I got?

Hi Jim, I'm not the most knowledgeable member of the forum but here are my thoughts: Do the serial numbers on the barrel and receiver match on your rifle? One possibility might be that your rifle was originally a .35 caliber and someone swapped barrel assemblies with a .300 Savage. Or maybe it was a...

Re: Hornady leverevolution 35 REM...is it safe?????

Hi, I have been asking myself the same question ever since my father gave me a box of .35 rem leverevolution for Christmas 2 years ago. I am not trying to influence anyone's decision about this question but here are my thoughts/questions: 1) I emailed Hornady and they responded that it was "per...

Re: Looking for parts sources

Hi wilderness8, I have a similar butt plate situation with my 81. My search has turned up a couple of sites with a variety of Remington butt plates. I can't vouch for their quality and I don't know which plate would be appropriate for your rifle but they might be worth a look. http://www.gungrip.com...

Re: barrel jacket/adapter is loose

Hi uhjohnson, I don't know how to solve your barrel jacket problem, but if you are looking for a replacement barrel jacket check "the gun rack". http://www.thegunrack.net/ I've never dealt with them before but they seem to have a pretty good selection of 8/81 parts. Their list shows used b...

Re: Stevens lever action in Remington rimless???

Hi 45guy, It is the Stevens High Power. Model 425 is standard and higher grades were 435 & 445. It came in .25, .30, .32, & .35rem. I copied a few pictures from one listed on gunbroker.com. http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af45/bdcpb/the%20great%20model%208/Stevens%20425/1stevens425.jpg ht...

Re: Aperature sight

Hi flanman, I think the most common sight that uses the mounting hole on the back of the receiver is the Marble's R6. They are regularly listed on ebay but they usually don't go cheap. There are pictures of a few different sights in the "sights and scopes" section of the gallery. http://th...

Front sling swivel

Hi, I would like to add a sling to my model 81 and I am looking for the correct stud/swivel for the front. The barrel is drilled and tapped for a 10-36 stud but I can't find one. I have been looking on ebay and gunbroker for a while with no luck. Any ideas? If someone could post a good close-up pict...

Has my stock been cut down?

My model 81 came with a thick recoil pad and I would like to know if the stock was cut down when the pad was added. The length of pull is 13-9/16" without a butt plate. I don't know how much length the butt plate would add but I think I have read that the correct LOP is 13-3/4". The end of...

Hello

Hi, I am a new member and I found this board while looking for information about a .35 cal model 81 that I received as a gift from my grandfather.

I have a few questions that I will post in the Q&A section.

Thanks, Brian
