Re: 7-30 Waters Rimless

Well, guess that could be done but have to wonder why would you unless just for the novelty. If the idea is to push 30cal bullets faster out of a Model 8 seems there is a much easier way to do it than converting an existing rifle. I`ve loaded spire point bullets for a Savage 340 bolt action and a Sa...

Re: Scoped Model 81

Have to admit the mausers are dear to my heart also. I look around and wonder sometimes where all of them came from. Some were ground up builds and others bought after previous owner had done the work or paid to have it built. Right now with the fear of wholesale restrictions on firearms eased it is...

Nope...when I had it apart for the cleaning and lubrication I had just jeweled a half dozen mauser bolts and decided what the heck and did the 81 also. No harm..If I tire of it or ever decide to sell it can be returned to original with a polish.

'A' model Adam. When I got it Bubba had been at work and drilled a few holes. The forend was damaged where a sling swivel had been mounted and had split out a piece about inch an a half long from the tip end. The receiver had been drilled for an unknown mount. The forend was repaired with an inlay o...

Scoped Model 81

Have had this 81 in 300 Sav for several years and was on the lookout for a scope for it. I wanted it to fit the rifle and not overpower it. Found this Williams Guideline 2x6 variable with duplex reticle. Not a lot of history available on this branded scope but I would think probably made in Japan du...

Yes, a good job of clean-up. Not that you don`t already know you got a heck of a deal on this one I`ve included a link to one that sold recently that was a 30-30. It ,unlike yours, had been drilled for a scope mount and had a recoil pad installed with both being detractors. My interest in it was tha...

Re: 1950 Marlin 336A half-tube .35 Rem

With the "bargain basement"price you paid for it you certainly have room for some accoutrements. Popularity of the 336 means that your search won`t be long. Williams and Lyman currently produce the receiver (peep) sight for it . Listings on Fleabay for both, with the Williams the cheaper option. Not...

Not turning this into a Marlin Forum but want to send congrads to Adam on acquiring a fine rifle in a great caliber at a fantastic price. Truth be known we probably have the 336 and it being chambered in 35Rem to thank for the availability of factory ammo to feed our 8`s and 81`s. These two were not...

We`ve had this subject come up in the past as to whether our old guns will stand up to higher pressures and velocities than what was around way back when. Often the questions concern Hornady`s Leverevolution ammo and whether it is safe to shoot. The consensus has been that the FN`s,8`s and 81`s are ...
