Have seen those with small compass inletted in top of stock or larger compass inletted into side of stock. Useful when hunting in flat brushy areas and no outstanding landmarks for reference or orentation. Jerry

Reincarnation from near death, beautiful rifle, excellent restoration, from looks of stock it must have been special order and the wood itself can that possible by maple or more likely english walnut. Thanks to the gentleman gunsmith that saved it.

Sounds like a case of interstate fraud, suggest contacting North Carolina Attornetys General Consumer Protection Department, might help but no guarantee. Found that post and it was a bargain, a1909 11c Trap model, straight english grip, solid rib with mid rib bead, said was used as hunting gun, understandable in those days most were lucky to have one gun.Jerry
