A six position M-4 style stock and quad rail on the front would be most likely. In this day and age a rifle isn't a rifle unless it has 50 pounds of superfluous crap hanging off it.

I ended up trading into a 17A made October of 1925, and it has a strange anchor stamped below the REP proof. Any idea what it is? Additional proof? Inspectors mark?

So, you're looking for a destroyer eh? Is it the 1921 variation with the root of the bolt handle acting as the locking lug or the later version with dual opposed rear lugs? If the latter, I have a line on one.

Re: REM 14's & 141's
The darn things seem to be coming out of the woodwork here in Ohio. I have yet to see an 8/81 at any of the local shops/shows, yet I've run across 2 141's and a 14 recently. One was a .35 141 I sent to Mitch, and the others are both .30's at Gander Mountain. Almost forgot about the 14 on Armslist......

Is there a Remington equivalent of a Winchester letter? Not that I'm going to part with it, but I would love to learn the history of this piece. I'm also trying to determine if all of the American Brownings had matted barrels. The only info I've been able to locate on that matter was a similar one t...

I stumbled upon one of the WWII era Remington produced A-5's (not 11, has magazine cutoff) in 20 gauge. A new friction piece and ring later, and it has become a great bunny slayer.

Haven't run into the same issue with an 8/81 yet, but I've had similar issues with junk commercial carbine knock offs usually due to peening of the ejector plunger. Usually end up with either stovepipes or interesting ejection vectors, e.g. the half moon scar on my forehead.

Thanks for the link texas, I can't resist buying any of the old Bubba-gunsmith handbooks at garage sales. My favorite is the Home Gunsmith Digest by Tommy Bish. Nothing like a Winchester Carbine in a Mannlicher stock with crappy plastic inlay. It really was a different world back then.

You would have to use silver solder, as your standard solder will not bond with the steel of the clip. You are pretty much forced to braze or silver solder.

I'm assuming they have a long throat, much like the Remingtons in .257 Roberts. In other words, if you want a spitzer to actually be contacting the lands you would have to seat it too far out to fit the magazine.

This question begins with a purchase from Reed's, I believe, back in 2006. I had ordered some 150 grain .30 Rem which when it arrived was loaded with 150 grain Core-Lokt SPITZERS . Now every factory round, and my own for that matter, have all been loaded with good old RN bullets. Not surprisingly, t...
