$600 for rifle.
$300 for components, minus the powder.

Price is plus shipping.
Ammo/components would ship separately.
Prices are firm.
Thanks!

Re: 81 Kreiger in 300 Savage

Found a little bonus.
The rifle has Paul Jaeger marked quick detachable sling swivels. I've seen these selling in the $50 neighborhood.

Does anyone know the significance of them? Were they the first detachable?

Re: 81 Kreiger in 300 Savage

Finally got to pull it apart.
No markings in the forend.
The stock has the serial number stamped on the lower tang inletting.
The grip cap is somewhat inletted along the bottom of the stock, so it's not like it was just stuck on there.
Interesting gun.

Re: Help with identification

Early receiver! The BK3 barrel marking indicated a repair (3) done in January (B) of 1941 (K). They probably didn't have any more Model 8 front ends, since the 81 had been in production since 1936 and/or the customer wanted to upgrade to the 300 Savage. I'm sure other parts may have been replaced at...

Yes, the numbers should match. It looks like the upgraded wood was taken from another rifle and out on yours. Notice the metal on the tang is exposed on the side. If it was fit to the rifle, that wouldn't show.

It's pretty, but that seems like New in the Box money, to me. No rib, 30" full choke. No, they aren't common in that condition, but that's kinda steep.

Re: Remington Sportsman (11) Vent Rib with Factory Cutts

The Cutts gives great patterns. It can add length back to a shortened barrel. The Lyman chokes are good as well. There were several types of these early choke tubes. They worked pretty well, but weren't as pretty as the internal tubes that phased them out. Interestingly it took about 50 years before...

Remington Sportsman (11) Vent Rib with Factory Cutts

I wanted an example of a Model 11 with a vent rib. They aren't extremely common. This one is has a factory installed (no chaoke marking on barrel) Cutts Compensator. This exact configuration model was used by Robert Stack (yes, the actor) in his younger days to win a Skeet Championship. I like the c...

An El Paso made Weaver K4 would be great, maybe even a 2.5

For modern stuff, a straight tubed fixed power would look the best.

I wouldn't go any bigger than a 2-7x32mm Nikon Prostaff or Leupold (33mm)

ha ha! No, it is used. I haven't shot it in a few years, now. But it's been a good one. Might take it along to put in the blind in case a shot presents itself. Here lately it seems shots don't happen until near dark. Not ideal for iron sights.
