This is what I would call a "round knob" Model 8. It's a type of rounded shallow pistol grip style stock.

Standard Arms Model G project SPF

SOLD PENDING FUNDS I have a Standard Arms Model G rifle in .30 Remington which is substantially complete (as far as I can tell) but is in non-operating condition. I had intended to fix it myself but never got around to it. The ladder on the rear sight is missing. The gas valve seems to be a little ...

Re: British proof marks on Model 8?

The production code, "RT" indicates it was made in November 1926. According to John Henwood's book, "The Great Remington 8" though, the last rifle shipped from the factory in 1918 was 40,917 and in 1919 was 42,009, which puts your rifle 41033 shipped from the factory in 1919. I found a list of guns used by a hunting party of the Prince of Wales in India in 1921. Thought it was mildly interesting because of reference to two of our favorite firearms. Apparently the "Royals" were intrigued with the Remington Autoloader and took it "shooting". Imagine some guy in a sun helme...

You can't use .25-35 WCF or the European equivalent (6.5x52R) in the Model 8 because, for one thing, it's a rimmed cartridge. .25-35 Remington is the same as .25 Remington.

Anyone been able to do a 7-30 Waters Rimless conversion on a Model 8 or 81? I would think 120 grain bullet at 2500 fps out of a Autoloader would be a fine goal.

Good to have you on the forum. If your gun has little or no original blue left, then in my opinion it is totally up to you as to whether or not it should be re-blued. It all depends on what you would like best. If it's really rough looking now, you may actually improve value a little if you re-blue ...
