Lots of bullet holes in that car. I think there were a couple of Model 8s there that day.

#26213 was probably manufactured sometime in 1911 as the last gun shipped from the factory that year was #26489.

Welcome to the forum! I think Remington pretty much shut down civilian production in 1942. I know the auto makers stopped making cars that same year. The .35 and .300 were 4 round magazines.

I'm actually not even a Model 81 collector, but I found a local guy who had a Model 81 for sale, and needed money, so I went to look at the gun. It turned out to be a Model 81 LASD department marked gun that he had bought in California about 40 years ago. The gun is in near excellent condition with...

You can't use .25-35 WCF or the European equivalent (6.5x52R) in the Model 8 because, for one thing, it's a rimmed cartridge. .25-35 Remington is the same as .25 Remington.

Anyone been able to do a 7-30 Waters Rimless conversion on a Model 8 or 81? I would think 120 grain bullet at 2500 fps out of a Autoloader would be a fine goal.

Good to have you on the forum. If your gun has little or no original blue left, then in my opinion it is totally up to you as to whether or not it should be re-blued. It all depends on what you would like best. If it's really rough looking now, you may actually improve value a little if you re-blue ...

To begin, I paraphrase a wiser man than I. You are dealing with a 100 year old firearm. Plus it's a complicated gun with lots of small parts and flat springs susceptible to b...

What to look for on a Model 81 made in 1936? First consideration is condition. Overall condition...bluing should be that shinier blue that was used before 1942 rather than the duller blue you see on guns from the end of production. Bolt and bolt handle should not be blued. If you've seen a bunch of ...

Over the years I've seen a couple of Model 8s that had been converted to .300 Savage.
