Re: What year did they start putting tang sights on Model 8's?

Good to know, mine - obviously - has tang sights, and I was wondering whether that was something that could help establish its age (the serials are a bit corroded), but it isn't. Now I should maybe finish my report on this property in Spain before New Year hits, instead of browsing sites about weapo...

Re: A Young Gun

Who knows, maybe she'll earn this hat later on, by becoming a great shot with the good old Model 8! That's, for example, how my sister inherited my grandfather's M1 carbine, which was that one gun she shot and shot during her teenage years.

Parties at the Ladies' palace must be a blast! Are they chambered in different calibers?

Re: Finding Ammo

+1 for local gun shops outside of your region, it's worth driving a couple hours there and there if you can finally get your hands on rare ammo from a shop that doesn't have a website.
And then, it's worth getting into reloading, too...

Re: Sheriffs Department Model 81 with 15 round magazine

That's interesting to know that Remington kept manufacturing that type of weapons in 1942, I thought they'd be geared towards mass production for the military and that they'd shut off their civilian/LE lines.

Re: Layman - The Original Detachable Magazine!

That's pretty rad, I didn't know that detachable magazines for rifles were invented that early! Especially when you see that even during World War 2, almost everyone used clips to reload their rifles... As far as I know, the only exceptions saw limited use, like the Soviet SVT 40 and its German copy...

Thank all of you for your messages! Amazon doesn't deliver where I live, but I'll order the book to my parents' address in Kansas and read it as soon as I I get there. Meanwhile, Google is free

Hello guys, I've recently inherited my grandfather's Model 8 in .30 Remington, and would like to learn more about that model, since I'm not too familiar with it (I collect mostly combloc-type weapons, I've got 4 AK variants, two Mosins, a SKS, a Makarov, a CZ 52 and a CZ 75 waiting for me back home)...
