I also have a recently acquired Model 81 in 300 SAV; mine is a 1948. I haven't taken mine to the range yet and wondered if you had and how your experience was with accuracy and operation.

So what was the problem? My guess is a fired case or unfired cartridge stuck in the chamber.

New to the forum
Just bought my first, a Model 81 in 300 SAV made in 1948. There's a lot of good info here. I havent shot it yet but have dies, brass and some old Federal factory ammo coming.

New to the forum and while looking over my newly acquired Model 81 300 Sav I noticed that the extractor is stamped "35" so some components are the same. Probably it is just a matter of opening the bolt face slightly for the .473 rim. I wonder too if the well known kick of the 300 SAV in th...
