Re: Ejection issues
Welp some time later I believed to have fixed the problem. I was finally able to locate a tool to take apart the barrel/shroud assembly. ( fellow user made a few) after removing the shroud and getting down to the barrel I saw it was covered in a thick sticky gooeyness. I assume this is super old eva...

Re: New member from Pitkin.Louisiana
This reply is a little over due but I believe to have solved the ejection issue. I was able to finally find a tool for taking the barrel shroud off and the barrel had a thick gooey substance all over it. Im assuming this is old evaporated or dried oil. Got all that mess off and re oiled it. Been wor...

Re: New Rem Model 8 barrel tool for sale
For anyone considering getting one of these. Mine works great. No complaints. And seeing how hard these take down tools are to find, it would really behove you to get one. Before I had the tool,I was having issues with my gun cycling correctly. After getting the tool and being able to see my barrel,...

Re: Hand loads
Actually funny you mention that. I will be bringing this gun on a pig hunt this upcoming weekend. We have a lease on a large hardwood forest thats become all but completely over run with pigs. So much so that the last time I went in there just to check things out, my dog goes in the woods and snatch...

7.62x25 help needed
Well this is supposed to be the place to talk about things other than the model 8 or 81 so here it goes. Just purchased a Romanian Tokarev which shoots the 7.62x25. Now I reload for nearly everything I have. Just something I enjoy. However the only reloading dies for this cartridge that wont break t...

Hand loads
Loaded some 300 sav and wanted to see how they would group through my old 81 woodsmaster. Just as a start, I shot this group in the picture at about 55 yards. Mainly because thats what the rear sight was already set for. Got to say I’m actually please with it.

Rear sight
Quick question here. Can anyone tell me what brand rear sight this is? There are no brand names anywhere on it. Just this circle with a deer leaping through.

Re: Ejection issues
Well just to be sure Ive located and ordered a new ejector and ejector spring. Maybe over kill? We’ll see. But if that doesn’t work. I read something about slightly bending the extractor? Not sure how I feel about that one. Would anyone have some info about that?

Re: Ejection issues
It does lock back after the last round thankfully. And yeah I think first and foremost I will clean it and then see if anything changes. Side note: its super corny but after reading and seeing a lot of people also calling these guns our ladys. I’ve decided to name mine. Lol Evangaline.

So very glad to see that there is a website with so much information and people willing to help.

Re: Ejection issues
Oh and one more thing, I plan on reloading these bullets. So when a case gets caught horizontally between the front of the bolt and the top of the barrel/receiver, it bends the neck of the case and ruins that brass. All that aside, I do still love this gun. Im just hoping optimistically that I will ...

Ejection issues
Hello all, recently I finally got my first Remington model 81. Its chambered 300 savage. Im having a bit of a problem though. Occasionally about the 3rd or 4th round in while shooting, one of two things will happen. Either the spent case gets caught horizontally between the bolt and top of the barre...
