Thanks again for your reply ! My dad is 89 now and doesn't remember much about the gun except carrying it for many years deer hunting in northern Michigan. Guess I better start looking for ammo and sight this gun in !

Wow ! Thanks for the info and history on this gun. Yes it's stamped AAR3 with EE under that. Made in 1936 with repair in 1946 - older than I thought !So glad I found this group ! Before I think about re-blueing the metal will that effect any value it might have? Should I reload for this or can it ha...

New guy here with questions on model 81. Looks to be made in 1946. # 989 in 300 Savage. #'s match on all parts. Front sight is a Marble Sheard with a copper insert. Rear is a peep sight with no markings screwed on to left side of receiver. Checkering on forearm and stock looks different from any oth...

Hello my name is Bob and I'm from Michigan. I was given a Model 81 in 300 Savage from my father. It was his father's before him so it is a valued heirloom. I remember shooting it about 35 yrs. ago and that steel buttplate was a kicker ! Can't wait to learn some more about it.
