Model 8 with Saddle Ring Carbine forend?

Hi, The following link goes to a Model 8 previously sold but with an unusual, and quite attractive to my eye anyway, forend and so I was wondering if I might get the memberships guesstimate on what forend it happens to be!? I myself think it to be a modified Winchester 1895 Saddle Ring Carbine foren...

SRC forend......

I really like the look of the military trials rifle with the longer forend, side grooves, and barrel band........it suspiciously like the forend on my Winchester 1895 saddle ring carbine. Has anyone ever thought to see if there was even a possibility that those two pieces from the Winchester would w...

Re: 7.62x39......is the idea still alive & kicking?

Sitting here at work contemplating the Universe, and this conversion, and a thought popped in my head. Now understand I have zero knowledge in gunsmithing so if this idea seems silly you know why..... Instead of going to all the trouble of a new barrel and new parts and cutting and yadda yadda yadda...

Re: 7.62x39......Part Deux, w/pics of my "new" .35 Remington

I'm having about as much luck finding a Model 8 buttstock as I would finding hens teeth.....sooooo, will a round knob stock from an early Auto-5 work on this rifle or only on the FN 1900 version?
And thanks, Phyrbird!๐Ÿ™‚

Re: 7.62x39......Part Deux, w/pics of my "new" .35 Remington

Copy that.....once it gets in I'll be able to get a better look at it. And found out from the seller just a bit ago it was made in 1909. Will go perfectly with my FN M1900 in .32 ACP and my FN M1903 in 9mm Browning Long!๐Ÿ™‚

Re: 7.62x39......Part Deux, w/pics of my "new" .35 Remington

As for the buttplate are you thinking, once one is found of course, that it will be as simple as taking the rubber buttpad off and putting the other on.....or is that a much too simple equation, lol!?

Re: 7.62x39......Part Deux, w/pics of my "new" .35 Remington

Thank you .....quite happy I found one in .35 calibre, and with sling swivels already installed. The rear peep sight will be coming off and the traditional sight back on the barrel as I'm going for an "Victorian/Edwardian" look if you will while hopefully bringing the cartridge it fires in...

7.62x39......Part Deux, w/pics of my "new" .35 Remington

Hi All, So I have literally just purchased this Model 8 in .35 Remington in the last half an hour from Gunbroker and plan on using it as my rechambering project into 7.62x39....having said that I've a question or ten for the members: Firstly, I'd like to know what the group thinks of the rifle from ...

Re: 7.62x39......is the idea still alive & kicking?

Thanks for the response LB.....Gun Parts has new in the white 59/66 SKS barrels for $85 and the gas port is not yet drilled out therefore eliminating one step on the barrel process. My Smith says he can make the barrel so we're gonna give it a shot once I've found the suitable parts and/or rifle!

7.62x39......is the idea still alive & kicking?

The first time I saw a Remington Auto Loader quite a few years ago I instantly knew I had to have one someday, but the thought of paying upwards of $30.00 a box for 20 rounds made, and makes, me cringe and so purchasing one of these beauties was put on the back burner. Fast forward to recently and w...
