Pre Model 8 jam issue

Hi fellows,
I have a second rifle having issues. This rifle is a pre model 8 in 35 Rem. I am firing factory core-lokts. The rifle will properly eject if I load a single round into the barrel. If I load the magazine I will get intermittent failure/jam. See image:

Re: 1927 Model 8 problem cycling (Jam issue)

It has been a while since I have had the opportunity to further investigate this issue. You guys were correct regarding the OAL of the cartridge. I reloaded several round nose bullets to an OAL of 2.525". The rifle functions flawlessly. Thanks for all of your fine advice. :D

Re: 1927 Model 8 problem cycling (Jam issue)

The rifle is a 30 Rem. I think you are correct, the bullet when crimped on the crimp groove may be longer than the rifle design will alow. I purchased some RN bullets and will load some up when I get the chance. Thanks for the advice.

Re: 1927 Model 8 problem cycling (Jam issue)

The load is a warm load 1.5 grains from a max load. The rifle has been taken down and thoroughly cleaned with the exception of the barrel assembly and the magazine. I will take the magazine apart and give it a good cleaning. What I found odd was the tip of the bullet was moved forward in the magazin...

1927 Model 8 problem cycling (Jam issue)

My 1927 Model 8 is not stripping the round from the magazine. My reload consists of spire point bullets with new brass crimped on the crimp groove. When loading 2 bullets into the magazine I am able to release the bolt and the first round feeds correctly. After the shot, the second round is not pick...

Re: light primer strike

Thanks for the reply chas1949. I took the rifle apart Friday night. I was able to determine the main main spring tension was light coupled with a lot of internal grime. The rifle now functions as intended. You nailed it chas1949.

light primer strike

Model 8 issue. There appears to be very little spring pressure when the trigger is pulled. I have never fire the rifle as it was a recent purchase. The result is a very light primer strike that is not enough to set the primer off. I was wondering if I could get some advise before I pull the rifle ap...

I'm a new owner of 2 model 8's. One in 30 Remington and the other in 35 Remington. I'm looking forward to learning more about these unique firearms.
