Re: My first 1900 .35

Välkommen! :) Nice to see another Swedish 1900-owner here! Yours look fantastic, great find. Never seen one that nice in Sweden. I also hunt with mine. I have spent quite some time developing loads for hunting that meets the requirements for moose/wild boar etc. Also some lighter loads for hunting a...

Re: Front sight specs, help me please...

Restoration complete. I would say the end result is quite ok for an amateur gunsmith, better than before at least. :) What I did was silver solder a steel pin on top of the sight base and then carefully ground it to fit and look as close to the original as possible. Here's a few photos if anyone is ...

Re: Front sight specs, help me please...

@canuck, Thanks! This is just what I need! And I should probably have mentioned that I have a ribbed barrel. :)

@Phyrbird, Go ahead and hijack! if it's the same thing we want, why start another thread?

Front sight specs, help me please...

When i got my 1900 the front sight bead was either broken off or ground down. I have managed to rebuild it so that it is usable, but it's kind of difficult to use since it is essentially just a thin post at this point, no bead. My plan is to rebuild it properly, to make it as close to the original a...

Re: Reloading for the 1900 (35 Rem)

I'm aware of the confusion regarding actual barrel diameter, and it is actually listed in the Swedish official calibre listings used to determine the cartridge class (used to determine what kinds of animal you can hunt with it) as 8,9mm. I do believe that this is a misinterpretation. Certainly not t...

Re: Reloading for the 1900 (35 Rem)

I've now fired enough number of rounds (200+) through my 1900 to make some kind of judgement. Works perfectly and it's an absolute joy to shoot! Developed three loads so far, the first two are practice/small game rounds with .357 bullets, 158gn. A Fiocchi FMJ and a S&B SP. Both quite soft and ni...

Re: FN 1900 #4577

Looks great from the photos. With FN's it's a tossup on condition, but all are extremely collectible particularly here in the USA. I'm personally very interested in a follow up with hunting photos!!!! Here in Sweden they are wildy underappreciated and underpriced. We have pretty low prices in gener...

Re: FN 1900 #4577

The attachment of that rail is terribly interesting. What sort of optic might you place there? What I'm going to try first is the Aimpoint Micro H2. Simply because that's what I already use on other rifles for driven hunts. But even though it's a relatively small sight, it feels kinda clunky on a r...

FN 1900 #4577

My 1900 is finally home and has gotten some care. Haven't shot it yet, .35 Remington ammo is nearly impossible to find here in Sweden, and brass and reloading dies hasn't showed up yet. The serial number is 4577. It's in decent condition but of course has some dings and scratches. Looks like it's be...

Re: Reloading for the 1900 (35 Rem)

Can report back with some pictures and results if anyone is interested, but it will take a while before I get my hands on it because of our weird gun laws. But that's a whole other story. Please do! Very interested. And, If you want to talk weird gun laws - well, I'm from Canada, need I say more? D...

Re: Reloading for the 1900 (35 Rem)

Thank you all so much for you replies. They more or less backed up what I thought from the beginning: that a rifle of this build quality should be able to handle a bit more power without problems, but also that you should take into account that it is an old weapon and you don't really know what it h...

Re: Reloading for the 1900 (35 Rem)

@canuck - Hardrada55 beat me to it, what he describes is the minimum requirements in Sweden to legally hunt elk, wild boar, moose, etc. @Hardrada55 - I am fully aware that changing the parameters when dealing with a firearm this old should be done with a great deal of care. However, it doesn't take ...

Reloading for the 1900 (35 Rem)

Hi there, First post for me, so here's a short intro; I'm a hunter and a JMB fan from Sweden who just managed to get a hold of a very late model 1900 in .35 Remington. In good condition too. It was a real lucky find, since these are really scarce over here. Anyway, my plan is to use this rifle for d...
