81 Doublefeeding
I finally got the 81 to the range. Noticed it was doublefeeding. (Unfortunately it did not dawn on me to take pics). On the 2nd or 3rd round in the magazine, the bottom of the bolt appears to grip into the side of the casing on the next round (causing marring on the casing) while loading the previou...

Re: Proper barrel nut setting?
I wonder if an FN49 gas adustment tool would work for this? Probably not but i need one anyway. I'll compare the hole size of the gas adjustment sleeve on the FN with the 81 when I get home.

Proper barrel nut setting?
So I'm still new to the 81, and I noticed that I can unscrew the barrel nut by hand. Re: New 81 Owner
Nice clean looking 81! With the prices these guns are starting to draw and from what I have seen at gun shows in the last year its a steal alright. As time goes by running down a mount and a period scope for it can be a bit of fun. I did this with my first 81 and enjoy shooting it just for fun. 8-)...

Re: Very late sn Model 81 on GB
Do 81 serial numbers outside the listed range command a premium? Mine's #56897 and if they do command a premuim I might sell it and use the money to buy a lower number .35 rem or .300 savage 81 and have some extra cash to feed it

Re: New 81 Owner
It's a .35 Remington. Apparently it's a super late model with a 56800 range serial number and a DWW date code. Only issue is someone drilled and tapped it for a weaver mount :( I'm not a hunter but I always found these to be amazing mechanical engineering specimens and for $400 i figured it would ma...
