Re: Frozen take down bolt

Finally took some time to look at the bolt problem after thinking about it awhile. It turned out to be a non event. With heat from a heat gun, liberal amounts of Gibb's penetrating oil and a dozen light hammer taps using a wood dowel to not to mar the finish. The key was to strike the bolt just abov...

Re: Frozen take down bolt

That's what I thought as well. It's imperative that I get it taken down, since I have a prominent case builder making a hard case that's velvet lined in the taken down mode. Much like the period Swetnam shot gun cases. He hasn't started it yet, if all else fails, it will be made for the assembled gu...

Frozen take down bolt

I have a model 81 Police gun that has a stuck take down bolt. Besides penetrating oil
and heat, does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Darryl

Re: Rookie report part 3 continued

Jim,
That look's like what I had in mind. I wonder if you could make me one.
Let me know the cost if you care to tackle another set.

Jim,
That's a great collection of PD guns. Like you, I have the same itch.
Shoot straight & stay safe,

Re: New Purchase *w/ PICTURES

Does anyone here have a source for a barrel nut & bushing tools?
Am I going to have to make one myself?
Thanks,
Darryl

Jack,
You may be right there:-)
The long term 8/81 collector I bought it from is undergoing shoulder surgery this week.
Yikes,

Re: New Purchase *w/ PICTURES

Thanks for posting the photos Cam!
Now I'm on a hunt for a barrel nut wrench, any body know of anyone selling?
As always, I strip the gun and look for problems and lube everything up.

Re: New Purchase

That answered that, sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.
I had always thought that the swivels were attached to the furniture,
Looks I did good, though the sling I bought for it is 1" wide.
I'll post some photos after I get it.
Thanks,
Darryl

Re: New Purchase

Thanks for the info and photos. Are the hooks supposed to hook into the eyelets? The gun I'm looking at is also a L.A. county / sheriff gun. Does anyone have a source for the Boyt sling? I guess the Whelen slings are pretty rare. The seller stated it's a Jan. 1942 gun by it's date code. I'm hoping t...

New Purchase *w/ PICTURES

Hello everyone, I'm looking into buying an original Model 81 Special Police gun. I'm curious on what these guns are selling for these days? It's in 95% condition with a matching 15 round mag. Does anyone know if these guns came with period hard cases and other accessories? If so, what were they. I'v...
