Ammo 30 rem.

Lucky find at my local auction house. I believe the UMC ammo dates 1914-1916 time period. Two full boxes of the super X silver tips and 18 in the old UMC box. Looks like a dog bite marks on box. All for 50 bucks.

Re: New addition

well if I make it down to Jacks model 8/81 event we can use my gun to find out. I have thought of that also how accurate after take down and re mounting to the barrel if it was still on mark. Pretty cold here in Michigan at this time to do a good test 7 degrees out today

Re: Unique model 8

Yes they are getting harder to find I've been lucky here in Michigan the ones I own were all from local gun shops. Just good old vintage deer hunting rifles still in excellent working condition. This model 8 was definitely someone's favorite go to hunting rifle with the custom inlay and add on sight...

Great find here I was visiting a local gun shop a few day ago and seen this back behind the counter. I thought for sure it was on hold or layaway. So I asked and the guy said it's available an old lady came in a few hours ago and wanted the gun shop to sell her past away husbands old guns and ammo. ...

Re: New addition

It's not to bad the lens are still clear and crisp and focuses in and out good. Being smaller diameter it doesn't collect a lot of light but does the job.

New addition

1941 300 savage with a stith mount and weaver K 2.5 scope. A classic Michigan deer hunting rifle I'll be carrying it this year. Just to bad someone added a butt pad and sling mounts at some time in her day. But still a very clean gun with great oringal blueing. A good find on the used gun rack. It's...

Re: Striped threads

Thanks for the replys. I'm hoping I can find a insert. What I'm thinking of maybe trying. It's only the first couple of threads that are striped. With the forarm on and the take down swivel in it only uses those first few threads. If I can extend the length of the take down screw to thread it down d...

Re: sling

If the stock does not have a hole already for a swivel I would not put one in it. Use a vintage leather sling that straps to the stock butt plate area and then use the barrel jacket screw area for the front swivel that way nothing is harmed or drilled into. eBay has a swivel that goes into the front...
