Re: Original M81 Box - pieceinthevalley
Thanks for posting the pictures for me Cam. For clarification, the serial number on the box, when viewed under magnification, appears to be 14621, and the gun is noted as an A grade. I'm guessing that would make it 1940's vintage. The box contains what appears to be its original wrapping paper as we...

Re: 8/81 ammo question
It most definitely sounds logical. My own theory is that Remington did originally produce this ammo solely for LE use but perhaps switched to the white packaging to prop up sales when other guns were starting to be introduced to the police. Like you, I have no evidence to back this up, but from a ma...

Re: 8/81 ammo question
Thanks so much Cam. I was easily able to date the various boxes of .30 Remington that I have been accumulating. On a side note, with my first trip to the range after installing the correct tall front sight, the first shots were right on the money. Thanks to you and all the fine folks here, I have a ...

.30 Rem ammo
Hi all- just got an email from Graf's. They have .30 Rem. back in stock, loaded with 160 gr. Hornady Flex-Tip. I may have to get a box to see how it shoots!

FBI Model 81 question
Can anyone advise the screw/thread size of the receiver holes drilled for the Lyman 41 aperture sight? I've started the daunting task of trying to make the rifle "correct". Any leads on correct parts for this rifle would be appreciated!

New to the forum
Hi all- first post on this great forum. I've owned a Model 81 (in pieces) for quite a few years, but it was a back-burner project until recently. Thanks to some of the regular contributors on this forum, I discovered I had a 1941 FBI model. It's now on the front burner! I'll get some pictures up at ...
