Re: Issue or not?

I'll see what I can manage. I am sure I can figure something out on it. Looks like they used the rifle for years like this too. Once I figure something out that shows results I'll post my findings.

Re: Issue or not?

The barrel extension for the locking lugs. The piece threaded onto the barrel that the bolt locks into.

I'll have to get a picture later.

Issue or not?

I just disassembled the barrel assembly on the .32 Rem model 8 and found that the locking shoulder block on the barrel has a slight wiggle to it. Is this a major problem or is this pretty common? The wiggle isn't major but you can feel it and see it.

Re: Got bored also got some mail.

I've got .35 on that clip. I'm not sure but you could probably rig them up for .25 .30 and .32. I had to open the clip up a little for the .35.

Re: 1925 Model 8 in .32Rem

Yeah I meant to mention that in my previous post. I hope they did it right and it has no negative effect on accuracy or function.

I might fix it the right way later on down the road but for now the solder job is fine.

Inexpensive .32Rem dies?

Lee makes dies for the .35rem and they are very affordable. Does anyone make .32 Rem dies that are not gonna break the bank? If not then I will deal with it but if there are less cost intensive alternatives that would be nice.

Model 8 scope mount?

http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w191/josh1baluey1bob/2_zps4wtblezd.jpg So after quickly browsing the forums and checking my rifle against some other pictures on here I have determined I need a Weaver T8. I am hoping one of these doesn't break the bank. I have been looking all over my usual inter...

1925 Model 8 in .32Rem

The same guy that I got the 1933-34 rifle from also had this rifle. It wasn't in as nice of shape but it's an early one and cleaned up well. I may have a line on a box of original .32Rem. I am definitely gonna start reloading for this particular rifle. The bore is just as nice as the .35. It has bee...

The other members of my collection

Just a small part of the collection. I mainly focus on Military arms so Model 8 rifles are a bit out of the norm for me. http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w191/josh1baluey1bob/DSCF2874_zpsacxxagum.jpg http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w191/josh1baluey1bob/IMG_20150508_180216238_HDR_zpslr7bn0mx.jpg...

http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w191/josh1baluey1bob/DSCF2898_zpsskijwxxa.jpg May not be the prettiest thing in the world but it only took 5ish minutes to make from one of my SKS clips. I have WAY too many clips for my SKS and they are all US made so I have no problem hacking a few apart to make...

Re: 1934 Model 8 in .35 Rem

Yup! It's only 8 rifles ahead of his which I thought was a pretty neat coincidence. I noticed his had a date code on the barrel jacket. My rifle lacks that marking. Is there any reason for this? I thought this was a 1934 manufactured rifle, could it be a 1933 instead?

Re: 1934 Model 8 in .35 Rem

Thanks guys. It needed a lot of work. It had been through quite a few Michigan deer seasons before residing in closet or gun cabinet. I just shot some 150Grn Remington Core-Lokts and those are very pleasant to shoot compared to the 200s. I might use the 200s for deer and the 150s for plinking. The r...

Re: Just joined the other day

Thanks. I was a little bummed that I had to do what I did to the stock but I am not sure if that was a factory finish or not and it hindered use of the rifle. I've also been making usable clips out of my large supply of SKS chargers. They seem to work pretty good and are much easier than single load...

Looks just like mine. Which isn't a surprise as the serial numbers are only 8 apart from each other.

Just joined the other day

Well I recently joined because I just picked up a 1934 Model 8 in .35Rem from a friend at work. When I got it the poor thing was a bit cruddy but it appeared functional. I'd picked up a couple boxes of Remington rounds for it and dropped five into the magazine. Even though the gun hadn't been fired ...
