Re: 30 Rem reloading questions

Got to the range and I'm impressed with the model 8. I loaded 150s with 31g of 3031 and it was as accurate as my eyes allow. I was using some spire soft points and when I seated them to 2.5" I think they were a little deep. I got some flat point 150gs. They will not be so deep in the case at th...

Re: 30 Rem reloading questions

Simmer, Check these out ;) http://thegreatmodel8.remingtonsociety.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3511 I'll wait until I hear how they do before I make a batch. I thought I would get to the range this week but maybe next week. It turns out I'm mostly talk and little action but that's not what I...

30 Rem reloading questions

http://www.chuckhawks.com/30_Rem.htm I found loading info on the above link and will crank some out but have a few question. The 45th Edition of the Lyman Reloading Manual included data showing that the 150 grain Core-Lokt RN bullet (SD .226) could be driven to a MV of 2123 fps by 30.0 grains of IMR...

Feed back on dealings

I may have over looked it but most forums have a place to acknowledge traders, good or not.

Anywho, I got an effortless buy of brass from Phyrbird. No surprises and now I can reload for my twins.

Re: Any way to improve accuracy on my 35Rem Mod 81?

As a reloader I'm curious what you turned out.

The Gospel of Wiki says they were in 180 and 200g

I'm starting to figure out with my elderly guns they often were designed and matched for a pretty specific load.

Think you'll find the originals very stout and no need to replace them, even on the oldest rifles.
That works out since I can't find any.

Re: Buffer springs

The model 8 is new to me. I typically replace mag and recoil springs in any ancient auto before I shoot it. My regular sources, Wolff and Numrich, don't carry these. Any leads for a 30 Rem?

A pair of eights.

Mod 8s.jpg I recently picked up a pair of 8s. The top is a 1924, the bottom a 1928. The top has the single screw peep. It's marked 8-A. Pistol grip. It also has a second set of date letters, maybe factory repaired? The bottom just says Model 8. No peep. Straight grip. What can anyone tell me about ...

New owner

I recently picked up 2 of these bad boys so now I'm learning about them. Luckily I reload and can make my own .30 Rems once I find some dies for under $100.

Looks like one is a 1926 and the other 1928. One straight grip and one pistol. I need to scan the forum and see what I can learn.
