Re: New Guy

Welcome Jerry! I was wondering who did stock reproductions for the Model 8s and 81s. Now I know, Bob Breuninger. I did a quick google search on Bob which pointed me back to this forum and a thread with some great pictures of reproductions. For the new folks, like me, here is pointer with some great ...

Re: Hello Model 8 Forum

I really like that buttstock! I also believe that tang sight is stock! Others know more than I do.

Re: Newbie member!

That is a gorgeous set of furniture! I was getting ready to ask if they were after market when I re-read your post indicating stock.

Very nice!

Re: Recoil pad stock?

Well, I sure would like to restore the original stock but I am afraid they cut a little too much off!

I guess I will just have to look for another one! In fact, I got a lead yesterday on a collection of 6 not far away.

Re: Newbie member!

Welcome aboard! The 8 and 81 are new to me but I fell for them as soon as I laid my hands on the Model 8 I purchased!

I am down here in Trinidad. You went to a great school.

Re: My new hobby: sewing and quilting!

There is a reason most tailors are men! It looks like you do great work. Back in the mid 70’s after graduating from electrical engineering school. I took up sewing outdoor gear. My wife and I bought a nice White sewing machine (beside Singer that is the only name I know). Back then I was sewing Fros...

Recoil pad stock?

I am guessing but I do not believe the recoil pad on my Model 8 is stock.

If not stock what did the butt stock look like from the factory?

Re: New member and Model 8 owner!

Here in S Ky the horseback hunting is AAHHH limited. The only place you might try it is Land Between the Lakes. They might have regs against it there too. :( Bummer, I am sure you have a few horses out there. Here is a close up of the Makers Mark. Let me know if you want me to trace a pattern for y...

Re: Does my 1932 Model 8 have a firing pin spring?

Thanks for the info Sarge. When I figure out how to pull the bolt out and disassemble it I will look for the spring.

Last night I slugged the barrel (.357) so I can cast up some lead bullets.

Like my A5 I really like the way the Model 8 shoots. It hits like a hammer!

Does my 1932 Model 8 have a firing pin spring?

I have read of some issues of firing when releasing the bolt on some of the older Model 8. I have yet to let mine "fly" not knowing if there is an issue with a Model 8 made in 1932.

Does my 1932 Model 8 have a firing pin spring? Should I be concerned?

Here is what John Henwood says in his great model 8 book" The bolt head must be in the forward position with the locking lugs vertical to reassemble the barrel to the receiver. If the bolt has been pushed back into the carrier so the locking lugs are horizontal , simply retract the bolt partial...

New member and Model 8 owner!

I walked into my local small town gun store last Friday and there it was... an old Remington...the ones I had seen in all of the old Remington posters. I did not know what it was other than an old Remington chambered in .35 Remington. I went home and started to do some research on what this rifle wa...
