Re: Model 81 Magazine Problem
Thanks for your comment. Yes both of the spring clips are in place. I've tried the magazine spring every possible way without fixing my problem. I suspect that the problem is related to the follower not being captured in the magazine when its out of the gun. The front (bullet end) is retained by the...

Model 81 Magazine Problem
I presently own a Model 81 in 300 Savage, its the 2nd 81 that I have owned. There seems to be a problem feeding from the magazines and locking the bolt back on the last round. I have experience completely taking apart and reassembling my previous 81 helped by the excellent video on this forum. What ...

Re: Clips
I could not get Springfield clips to work in my 81. They do not work because the little projections on each side of the clip which act as stops will not let the clip get far enogh into the reciever for the clip to contact the top of the magazine. The Springfield clips have these projections on each ...

Re: Model 81 Safety
81 Police Thanks for the info. I had already found all of those videos and they all provided useful info. Too bad that the one video did not remove the safety. I made my own barrel tools and dissasembled the barrel. Cleaned it and oiled it up and sucessfully reassembled it. I also took out the bette...

Re: Model 81 Safety
Big Al, Thanks for your coments. You are correct that the screw has nothing to do with removing the safety. I took the screw out of both guns. Under the screw head of the rifle in excellent condition it is finely finished and looks like one piece which of course it is not. On the other rifle you can...

Model 81 Safety
New to Forum. A week and a half ago I picked up 2 model 81's at a gun show. I have been wanting one for sometime. Did not plan to buy 2 just could not stop myself. Maybe I will eventually get rid of one and pick up a model 8 to replace it. Researching on line I notice that some 81's have a screw on ...
