Weaver support Heads up

Weaver support/repair/ warranty is now handled by Bushnell. Seems they are being assimilated. Repair web page will not accept Weaver data -- or give you a repair tag #. On hold phone support is 15-25 in que wait times are 30m - hour. If the scope is older than 1986 it is repair only service. You pay...

Re: Thread pitch on M81 rear sight screws?

I can dig it. You are right the "to the left" scope does make for odd ergonomics. But so does straight up ejection. If you come up with a viable option for our Ladies I'm sure there would be lots of interest here. JMB was an innovative designer at worst, we can follow his example.

Re: Thread pitch on M81 rear sight screws?

Look for it, one of our guys drilled a short rail for the rear sight boss & mounted a reflex sight. A shotgun scope could be mounted the same. BUT you could try the Pachymar mount, the Griffin & Howe, or the Williams mounts. Yes they require drill/tap of the receiver, but the G&H mount helped me rin...

Re: Thread pitch on M81 rear sight screws?

Fred, I've tried several solutions for these. They are 6-40. All my factory screws fit a screw checker plate with only minimal play. I've had about a dozen of the 8-81s & all have had no issues w/ factory or aftermarket 6-40s. Even my spare sight mount blocks are the same. You mentioned your screws ...

KW, That 25 looks heavily burnished on the case body. If powder degraded, & gave hi psi it could cause this. You might consider pulling the remaining bullets, the primers, & annealing the case necks. It won't help body splits but can make a difference on the case necks. Unfortunately the older stuff...

R-man I have had both 30 & 32 Rem split. But it was older original loads, the age of brass & storage conditions can have that effect. Annealing usually corrects necks or shoulder splits, but one gotta pull bullets for that. I've yet to figure out a good way to remove old primers safely B4 the anneal...

Re: Reloading 30 Remington....

Suggest you try the Hornady 140g Monoflex, I'm having pretty good luck with them & Leverrevolution powder. Another potential could be the 160g FTX. These are a little lighter, great ballistic coefficient, with modern design for 30-30 velocities. The Monoflex being a solid has great accuracy potential.
