Suggest you try the Hornady 140g Monoflex, I'm having pretty good luck with them & Leverrevolution powder. Another potential could be the 160g FTX. These are a little lighter, great ballistic coefficient, with modern design for 30-30 velocities. The Monoflex being a solid has great accuracy potential.

Noticed you got one with the top-toe buttplate that is a good find. & in 25 Rem, had one almost the same & had to trade for a Inglis. It too has JMB designs. Good luck with the pair, watch out though, they'll soon be whining :cry: for their relatives. Then infect you with Jackitis :!: :lol: :!:

To solve the cookie mystery; its an old fashioned anti rust sponge. It probably has a desiccant & an O2 absorber originally. Now it's kinda crumbly. I leave in place cause it may have been placed during the repair. Not likely, just maybe. :D :lol:

RMan, a quick note; keep an eye :shock: on the bolt rotation. When you push back it can turn out of line w/ the bbl block. If so, no sweat, ;) pull bolt back @ half way, (releases the bolt lock) then push it back vertical with a dowel or such. Many of these rifles have sold "busted" because of that ...

Sarge you should see the M11 in my brother's rack. Even prettier, love shooting w/ the 2 ivory beads on the vent rib, just doesn't have all the scroll work. ;) Still she's prettier.
Try Pepcid AC for the heart burn works for me :lol:

Jack there are several of those I've never seen; let alone one a Model 8. From the vintage it's pretty clear they were never available for the 81s. I note some were designed for mounting on the wrist of the stock. :shock:

I may be wrong but the screw holes on left look like for the Williams 5D sight.
A pretty Lady, the finish is better than typical factory. The renovation looks nice...

Whoa, if it's not inletted for the toe on top or bottom then it had a plastic buttplate. Unless it is one that had a "S" curve military style plate. Heating of some kind may do the trick. Be REAL careeful with the heat gun if used. A good idea is to eyeball the butt screw holes, the centering of vertical on stock,& L/R on the stock B4 any bend. You can get an unpleasant surprise if you don't check first. Experience is a hard teacher....

Suggest you connect w/ RCBS, if they are like many other manufacturers in our chosen hobby they may take dramatic warranty action. I've had Ruger do considerable work on one of my babies, they charged Nada for parts & fitting of a cylinder. I only was out shipping for purloined parts. Weaver has off...
