Re: 3d printed stripper clips

The NATO chargers seem to work well for both .35 and .300. I slightly squished some of mine in a vise to narrow them a bit to better fit the slot in my .35 rifle. I'm told K98 chargers work very well.

Blastattack, did you happen to notice if this rifle had the caliber engraved on top of the barrel jacket extension? There was a discussion recently here on this forum about another very early m-8 that had no caliber marking at all.Just my curiosity at work here. I always thought that they were all ...

Remington Model 8. ser# 158

At a gunshow here in Calgary AB. There is a nice Model 8 here, $295. No bluing left, whole gun is covered in a brown patina, appears te be in perfect mechanical function, bore is described as very good. .35 Remington caliber. First year production, ser# 158. If it doesn't sell you can call the guy a...

Re: Reloading lead bullits for the 30 Remington. Model 8

What would one of these barrels cost (for him to make)? :?: A rough blank will set you back $300 (CM/SS, up to a max of 32" finished length), contoured is ~$400. He usually charges $600 (all in, though no bluing) to re-barrel a Remington 700. I'm guessing that is would end up costing around $7...

Re: Reloading lead bullits for the 30 Remington. Model 8

Blastattack. Your friend makes barrels for the Model 8 Remington? :?: Not exactly. He makes barrels that excel at accurately launching cast bullets (and exceptionally accurate standard bullets) downrange into tiny holes. He did say that it would be fairly straightforward to change the barrel on a M...

Re: Reloading lead bullits for the 30 Remington. Model 8

Very interesting tests indeed. Getting cast bullets to shoot well is an art-form. A friend of mine makes barrels (and damn good ones at that) that handle cast bullets spectacularly well. On a good day, some of the best ASSRA (American/Alberta Single Shot Rifle Association) members can plot ten of th...

Re: Unusual Remington model 8

So, as stated before, the theory would be to replace the barrel nut with the suppressor. You would not be able to remove the suppressor without first removing the shroud retaining ring, unlike on the standard 8/81. Modifications required would be as follows: 1. Shorten barrel by length of suppressor...

Re: Unusual Remington model 8

There is also the major question of what effect a suppressor, which is basically a hyper efficient muzzle brake that reduces sound, would have on the recoil action of the firearm. Being a long recoil, there could potentially be an issue with a lack of energy to adequately cycle the action.

Re: Unusual Remington model 8

Well, here'as an insane idea: What about installing the suppressor inside the barrel shroud? Basically shorten the barrel to carbine length, somehow set the spring assembly back, and install the suppressor between the end of the barrel and the jacket nut. Externally, the rifle would appear stock, it...

Re: Parkerized steel clips for .35/.300 Sav?

They look like NATO .308 clips. I have close too 100 of them that are IVI (Canada) marked, of which only about 6 or 7 readily fit my .300 savage cases. The rest a very tight, though would likely loosen up with a little work.

I would be cautious about reloading that old brass. I read a story somewhere where a guy fired and reloaded very old 25/30/32 Remington ammo and ended up destroying his gun. He used mild loads, but the believed cause of death was the mercuric primers weakening the brass and causing a complete casehe...

Re: Remington Model 8 Safety Replacement

I would agree with others, you should definitely replace the safety and the rocker on your rifle. I would guess the pin-hole punch marks on the outside of the safety lever were either from an attempt to tighten the lever (as indicated by sighthound ) or by unfamiliarity in proper disassembly. A tip...

It's definitely stuck on the shaft, and has not shifted since it was "repaired". One thing though, is the safety lever meant to be press fit into the locking arm? Is this normal, or should the two parts simply drop free of each-other when the driving/locking lugs on the safety barrel get t...
