Barrel Swap between a 8 and an 81 both in .35 Rem
I was reading John Henwood's book last night and it says that Remington never said that the barrels between the 8 and 81 could be changed if they were of the same caliber in their interchangability index for these rifles. I know there are threads on here that mention changing out barrels on 8's and ...

Re: Different stock cheeks on my in-the-mail 1906 model 8
Ok, I got her all cleaned up. There are no serial numbers or markings on either of the wood stocks. The barrel jacket seems to have been reblued a long time ago and retains more blueing than the receiver, but not by too much and it still looks really nice. The bore is gorgeous and not used much at a...

Ok, I don't feel so bad now. My model 81 in .35 is in the mail and should be here the week of new years hopefully. My first semi-beavertail forend model. Just perked myself up as well with a model 14R carbine in .30 Rem in the mail.

Re: #4 On the way!!!!! Stay tuned for full description and
Well I spoke too soon and the deal fell apart on an unfortunate missunderstanding. I ended up purchasing a nice early model 81 in .35 Rem with the semi-beavertail forend from him though!

I don't know the serial number yet. Once I receive her and get her all cleaned up, I will post a bunch of pictures.

Re: Different stock cheeks on my in-the-mail 1906 model 8
I don't have a picture of the barrel jacket markings yet. It is in the mail so I will have to wait and see when she shows up. I think I have a spare rear sight for her if I want to change the King one out.

#4 On the way!!!!! Stay tuned for full description and pics
Wow, these just seem to find me! I feel like an FN 1900 magnet. Fourth FN 1900 on the way in the mail. I only have one picture of it but it is supposed to have a really nice bore and it looks to be in about 70%+ condition with a plain barrel jacket. The butt plate doesn't look right to me, but it is...

Re: My first Model 8
I'm sure it will look nice once you are all finished. I just prefer the "been there done that many times" look myself. There is a memeber on here circlebranch, I think, that sells "Pro tools" for the dissassembly of the barrel jacket components. I have a set and they are worth ev...

Re: My first Model 8
finish looks nice, buuuut i think you ruined it, should have left it alone, it matched the rest of the guns original finish. looks like you took too much wood off sorry :o 809 Agreed! The nice stock cheeks are completely gone now! These old guns look better "Old" unless they come to you i...

Different stock cheeks on my in-the-mail 1906 model 8
Hey, Have a look at the cheeks on my new first year production 1906 Model 8 in .35 Rem. Serial 1311. I have never seen them like this before. They are always semi-circular on all the photos I've seen. Any ideas? Also, are these King sights a good or bad addition? Cheers, Ian http://i998.photobucket....

May be interesting to keep the 2012 in there as well so we can track over time what the values are doing. Just a thought.

Anyone have an update to the blue book values listed on the home page. It would be nice to see how they changed from 2012 to 2013.

A poor bubba'd Browning 1900
Just added my third FN 1900 to the safe. It is with much displeasure that I present this once beautiful rifle to you in it's present form. Serial number 943, plain barrel jacket. It is all matching with terrible bubba'd forend, made to look like a model 8 and disgusting carving on the once beautiful...

That is great! Rem81auto gave me the guy's email address and I sent him an email asking if he would mail it to Canada. If I have no luck with that I will definately get in touch. I really appreciate that!

Re: Model 8/81 Lyman Tang Sight Screw Needed
That is the ebay store from Apertures and More. I tried to contact the seller, but the site won't allow it. It says on the page that they don't ship to Canada so I'm out of luck with that seller.
Thanks for that listing though. Any other ideas?

Model 8/81 Lyman Tang Sight Screw Needed
Hello, I was wondering if someone here could help me out finding a Lyman tang sight screw. I have one coming in the mail, but it doesn't have the screw to attach it to the rifle. I have tried contacting Aperature's and More in the US, but they haven't responded and their ebay store won't ship to Can...

Re: Found a pair of FN 1900's over the last year. (56K warni
The REALLY great thing about these, up in Canada, is that they are very cheap from what you guys pay down in the US. I don't think there are very many people up here that even know what they are. I took #2287 hunting last fall at a friends hunt camp with 11 other guys and they had never even heard o...

Re: Found a pair of FN 1900's over the last year. (56K warni
Yeah, I forgot to mention that. They are definately replacements and should be the larger ones like on the other rifle. You can see that the holes in the butt plate are for larger screws. I will have to see if I can find something more appropriate. In henwoods book, there were two different ones use...

Found a pair of FN 1900's over the last year. (56K warning!)
Hey, Just wanted to finally share my pair of FN 1900's that I picked up over the last year or so. My newest I took detailed pictures of just after the initial deep cleaning and before reassembly of all of the parts that are stamped with the serial number. They are both plain jacket versions, but unf...

Another new Canadian to the site
Hello to everyone from Ontario, Canada, I just found this site after purchasing my first model 8 which just happened to be a peerless one! I have posted pictures in the Q&A section if you want to check her out. Really nice little community feeling on here. I just might have to stay for a few dec...

Re: My first Model 8!!! Original sellers pics added
Yes, I am from Canada. I took the afternoon off of work and drove up to Tweed, ON. to look at it. That is only a 35 min. drive from my house. Ended up coming home with me. I looked up the one old box of ammo he gave me for it in the ammo section on here and it looks like it was made from 1916~1920!!...

My first Model 8!!! Original sellers pics added
Hello, I just bought my first model 8 and was very excited about finding this website as well!!!! It is a peerless grade D Model 8 in .35 Remington!!! The serial number is 15260 and by my calculations puts it about July 1909. The receiver has about 70% original finish and the wood is sound and will ...
