Olskool,
As a big fan of bringing old weapons back to life I would say you did an excellent job of saving this piece of history. Good hunting!

I'm not an expert on model 8/81's but I've had several hundred rifles in my life. The one you obtained is beautiful and a definite keeper! Have fun shooting it!

Re: Remington Model 11 Question
Joe,
I thoroughly confused myself. I was trying to use brake line, a screw and the Numerich buffer pad. For some reason I didn't process that they were making the buffer pad out of brake lining. I get it now. Thanks for the help.

Re: Remington Model 11 Question
jthgunnut... Don`t know what process you have used to replace the buffer on yours. I found one that is satisfactory in "Gunsmith Kinks" Vol I page 319. Using a piece of brake lining cut to fit and a 6x48 screw rather than trying to duplicate that blind rivet. Joe Joe, Have received my cop...

For brass, loaded ammunition and dies try Buffalo Arms Co. at the website:
www.buffaloarms.com
They cater to a lot of obsolete calibers.

Remington Model 11 Refurbish
Throughout the winter I look for shop projects that will keep me entertained until we get spring meltdown here in the Methow Valley. This winter I did did a Model 81, a Model 14 and a model 11. I look for weapons that have been used beyond collector status and, unless they are totally refurbished, t...

Remington Model 11 Question
I'm in the process of refurbishing a very tired Mod 11. I noticed on disassembly that there was no fiber recoil buffer left in the back of the receiver. On past projects, I have noted that neither the Browning Auto 5 or the Savage 720 has the buffer. What would be the effect of deleting the buffer f...

Re: THE GREAT REMINGTON MODEL 30 EXPRESS
I also have a Remington 30 Express that I've had as my hunting rifle for the past 20 years. My Model 30 is in 3006 and has a 6 groove barrel. I've shot a number of deer and coyotes with it! Unfortunatly, to meet my hunting standards, I mounted a scope on the rifle. It's my understanding that the 30 ...

Rem. Mod 14 Question
:?: I'm in the process of cleaning up and working on my Model 14. I immediatly noticed that my disassembly book doesn't show the thumbnail bolt lock safety that my Model 14 has. In checking Gunbroker.com I could only find 1 other 14 with the same bolt safety. The seller referred to the rifle as a 14...

Re: Somethings A Little Off
I looked at the pictures then compared them against my Model 14 and I don't see any differences. What exactly are you looking at that looks inappropriate? After further observation, my bolt and receiver do look different. My serial # is in the 61000 series. My bolt has a bolt lock and release inside...

Re: Foreamr take down screw
Anyone out there have a take down screw for sale? Bob from Circle B Ranch has lots of these parts and the tools for 8/81's. I see he has a takedown screw listed on Gun Brokers.com. Go to gunbrokers.com, type in Remington 81 in the search box without choosing a category and you will find several of ...

Re: Rem. 81 Rebuild and Test Fire
I did not find the "B" after the 81 but based on my observations of factory vs. non-factory checkering, I believe this to be factory done. Thanks for the comments and information. As for hunting a deer, in Eastern Washington there is a 3-point minimum requirement. At my age, with my eyes, ...

Rem. 81 Rebuild and Test Fire
Today I test fired my Rem. 81-300 Sav. for the first time and it functioned flawlessly. It was a big deal for me because of what I started with! I was able to purchase this piece of history at a rock bottom price because it had been forgotten in a wet car trunk in a wet gun case. The owner then trie...

Spanner wrench
Just viewed the Circle B Ranch video with Bob demonstrating the takedown of the Remington Model 81 barrel. Where can I get a spanner wrench like the one he uses in the video? It was stamped CBR. Thanks for any suggestions!
