Re: Finally had some luck--32 Remington

Thanks for the comments. I am using 170 grain speers over 3031 to about 1900 fps. 2 shots through the chest at about 50 yards. Not much knockdown power compared to modern calibers, especially if you miss bone, but he only went about 20 yards before piling up. This was my first model 8, which i purch...

Re: 25 Remington from 30-30 Winchester

I have loaded both 30 and 32 Remington brass from grumpa for my model 8's with great success. I spent more time on the 32 Remington and worked up an accurate load that functioned perfectly and even managed to harvest two whitetails with it this fall. I have not worked up the 25 remington loads yet, ...

Re: Proper stock for early model 8

That is a really early 30 caliber. Bummer the barrel shroud is not engraved 30-30 Rem. Be careful on firing, as the barrel assembly may not be original to the bolt and the headspace should probably be checked. Best of luck on the project.

Re: bolt head rotation problem

:P thanks for the help. I went to bed and got up the next morning and had no issues whatsoever. Hopefully it will now pass the firing test and be ready for opening day! Great idea on the common problems and fixes post. Looking forward to it.

bolt head rotation problem

:( Well I got my model 8 .30 caliber apart and fixed( i think),there was an issue with the bolt hold open, but when reassembling the barrel 1/2 and gently closing the bolt the bolt head is rotated about 90 degrees and i can't turn it back to the straight up and down position. Not wanting to force an...

Good morning

I am new to the site but have collected and been interested in model 8's for 20 years. Budget has not allowed a huge accumulation, but i did stumble upon an original model 8 with the 30-30- Rem hand engraved above the barrel jacket in really nice shape many years ago and it is the star of my collect...
