Approx value of 1907 Model 8

I have my grandfather's Model 8 (serial #4404 manufactured in 1907) in .30 caliber. The gun is in outstanding shape. I shoot the rifle periodically with outstanding accuracy to 100 yards. Unfortunately, I may have to sell it. Can anyone tell me where/how to do that and, perhaps, what it might be wor...

Very early 30 cal

I have my grandfather's model 8 in .30 cal. Serial # is 4404, manufactured in 1907. Does anyone know if it's possible to track the life of this gun.... from date of manufacture to where it was initially shipped from factory? I think my grandfather was the first owner, but it would be fun to know. Th...

Re: 1907 Model 8 in 30 cal

Interesting observation (pistol grip) on the elk picture of my grandfather. (I hadn't noticed it.) I don't know why that gun is different. Here are 2 more pictures (with a bear and deer) where the gun matches mine. I know from stories my dad told me, that the gun I have was my grandfather's, and the...

Re: 1907 Model 8 in 30 cal

Here is a picture of my grandfather with an elk - in 1909 - with his 30-caliber Model 8 that I now have and have described here. The gun has been in my family since the day it was manufactured.

Re: 1907 Model 8 in 30 cal

This is my Model 8 in 30-caliber. The serial number is 4404; manufactured in 1907 - the first year that caliber was available. The first owner of the gun was my grandfather who was an avid hunter. I have several pictures of him (taken in 1908-1909) with the gun after he has taken deer, elk and bear....

1907 Model 8 in 30 cal

I have a Model 8, serial #44xx (manufactured in 1907) in 30 caliber. I have pictures of my grandfather using this rifle to shoot elk, deer and bear. I have always assumed that he was the original purchaser of the gun. Is there any way to check to see where a gun was originally shipped after being ma...

Grandpa's Model 8 - #2

My dad's dad was the original owner of this model 8, serial #4404, manufactured in 1907. It's 30 cal. I have had a model 8 collecter and gunsmith go through it, and it is in remarkably good shape - ok and safe to shoot - so I do. I can't find ammo, but I will.... and I will reloard some. I have rese...

Grandpa's Model 8

I've got a Model 8, serial #4404, that was originally owned by my grandfather. Just had it gone through by a gunsmith/model 8 collector... so I know it's still good to shoot. Ammo. That's the question. Where can I get it?
