.35 Remington brass

Since I am in the process of picking up a Remington 141 in .35 Remington (which is a new cartridge for me), does anyone know of a good source for .35 Remington brass, or am I just better off "biting the bullet" and buying brand new brass at .50 each from one of the commercial resources. Th...

Remington 141 scope base?

I am in the process of acquiring a Remington 141. I have enclosed a photo that shows the holes drilled in the receiver (evidently for an offset scope). Since I haven't received the firearm yet, I am unable to provide screwhole distance measurements at this time. Does anyone possibly recognize the ba...

Re: .25/.30/and .32 strippers.

So, how well did these stripper clips work for you?

I'd like to know.

Re: Model 141 - .35 Rem

In terms of the Model 8 verus the Model 81, I noticed that the 81's stock, etc., appears to be somewhat beefier/heavier. Would you seek out a Model 81 versus an 8, if an 8 was available due to the improvements made there, or would you consider the Model 8 as an "equivalent" rifle? What wou...

Re: Model 141 - .35 Rem

I had read somewhere (possibly in Remington's own history, or in a site dedicated to such), that the 141 was actually not so much "refined", but "reduced" by the removal of two barrel supports, in an effort to reduce costs and still keep the line alive since Remington had chamber...

Re: Remington Model 81 base search

Looking a little further, I just came across this photo, which looks very similar to one that would meet my requirements. It is actually an old Williams. Without measuring it, I don't know for sure that it would work, but visually, it looks very close to me. If anyone finds one of these for sale, pl...

Re: Remington Model 81 base search

I have enclosed the following photos that I pulled off of GunBroker.com a while back. Please note that these are not for my rifle. I also know that these will not work on my rifle, because the spacing is different. If it were the same, I would have simply pursued a Williams mount and would not have ...

Re: Model 141 - .35 Rem

Cool!

That is really neat!!!

A spitzer from a tube-fed rifle - who would have guessed?

As many rifles as I have looked at and studied, I certainly didn't know this.

Very neat indeed!

Thanks

Re: Remington Model 81 base search

If someone actually does some of the clip modifications discussed above, and has photos of what they have done (assuming they are effective and work well), I would appreciate seeing what you are talking about.

Please don't forget the original posted question regarding the scope base.

Thanks

Re: Model 141 - .35 Rem

Does that mean that the model 14/141 can is not restricted to blunt or flat projectiles in its tube, and that it can actually be loaded effectively with spire point ammunition?

Re: Model 141 - .35 Rem

Actually, I am interested in owning one of these fine firearms and may have an opportunity to do so. Does anyone who has owned and fired one of these have any input into a preference between the model 14 & 141? Also, has anyone who owns one of these in 35 Remington done much shooting with it? Ho...

Re: Model 141 - .35 Rem

Regarding model 14 versus 141, I have read that 141s left several components out that steadied the barrel in an attempt to reduce production costs. With all things being equal except for perhaps price (a comparable 14 would be more), would you prefer owning a 14 or 141 if you could find either.l Fur...

Re: Reloading for the .300 Savage - 10% reduction, linotype proj

Okay, so, thank you for your responses. What I am hearing is that the model 81 should handle anything that a comparable model 99 Savage would handle, and as far as lead bullets go, there are no gas ports to plug or foul (as in other sem-autos), and as such, as long as I can get good accuracy out of ...

Thank you all for your input, now back to the main question, does anyone have insight into a base I can use on my Model 81.

Thank you

Re: Reloading for the .300 Savage - 10% reduction, linotype proj

Regarding shooting cast bullets, I am sorry that your experience with cast has been so poor. My own background is with members of Santiago Rifle and Pistol Club (now defunct). The shooters there shot 10 - 10 shot matches every Sunday, and put in 2 bits for each match. The winner (smallest groups dea...

Reloading for the .300 Savage - 10% reduction, linotype proj

Having recently acquired a Model 81 in .300 Savage, and having read some scuttlebutt on the internet before joining this site, I read comments from some pundits that the Model 81 should only be fired with loads 10% under those typically listed in reloading manuals. Having loaded for many years mysel...

Re: Model 141 - .35 Rem

An absolutely beautiful rifle. If you don't mind my asking, where did you find it. And what did you pay for it (in case I find something in this condition and want to buy it what is a reasonable price?) Have you shot it yet? How is the recoil for a 200 grain 35 Remington load in that light of a rifl...

Re: Remington Model 81 base search

So, being new to all of this, will my original post automatically be transferred to the new forum or should I re-post there?

Also, what workable options are available for the 300 savage in terms of stripper clips?

Thank you

Re: Remington Model 81 base search

Is there any company that you know of which makes aftermarket stripper clips for the 8/81? I know that Triple-K makes aftermarket products for the Detonics Combatmaster & Automag, etc. Any reference to a source of reliable, functional and less-pricey than collectable original stripper clips woul...

Remington Model 81 base search

I am looking for a scope base to attach to my 81 Remington. My 81 has two sets of four holes each to the left side of the receiver, but these holes don't match any current lyman sight bases. Obviously, I don't want to drill any more holes and am attempting to match to original. Suggestions? Might yo...
