Re: Shot the Model 14

I have a model 14 in .25 also. I did get lucky on 5 boxes of OLD ammo and I bought one box of necked down .30 stuff. I killed a doe with mine at about 100 yards with open sites with 60 year old or older ammo. But a scope is going on it before long. I will post a picture when I get it drilled and tap...

Re: REM 14's & 141's

Your Rem. model 14's are great. I have one I got not long ago and it's a 1913 model in .25 caliber also. I love it. I have killed a deer with it but am going to have to put a scope on it. It has had some minor alterations done to it so it is not collector quality and being as I am going to use it fo...

I do re-bluing and repair and stuck choke tubes are an issue I deal with almost monthly. Soaking in Kroil and using the big "easy outs" is what I use but your idea sounds great too...d2

Re: A5s at gun show

I'm crazy about them A-5's. I have several 12's, 2 16's and not one 20 gauge A-5. I would like to have one but cant pay that big price so I have to settle for an 870 in 20 gauge...d2

Re: I got outbid a

The Remington boxes are missing their end flaps. The blue Winchester box is in terrible shape, the writing on the front says, 21 cents each. The yellow and blue Winchester boxes are in great shape except for the one where you can see the one box that is missing a little color. Once again thanks for t...

I got outbid a

few weeks ago on some .25 ammo on gun broker or guns America I cant remember which one. I bid 130 bucks on 4 boxes and was upset when I lost it, it went for 150. I have this neat old model 14 that I was in dire need of brass for and being a little odd :? I wanted my head stamps to say .25 Rem and no...

Re: M81 in .300 Savage Accuracy Test Today

I agree, if hunt out of a stand with more than a 100 yard shot I will use a rifle with a scope on it. I will use this the first couple of days of the new doe season and get my feet wet and my confidence up. 150 grainers for tomorrows shoot, they may shot a little tighter...d2

Re: M81 in .300 Savage Accuracy Test Today

I got to shoot mine today and I shot it at 100 yards with the Williams peep site. I shot 180 grain federal soft point loads. I hit what I was aiming at which was a target about the size of the kill zone on a deer, that part right behind it's shoulder. I didnt have any bullets touching but I would ha...

I intend to reload for my 81....

it's in .300 Savage and while looking at my stockpile of .30 caliber bullets I came across some 125 grain spire points. Has anyone reloaded any bullets that light in their 81? I got gobs of 150 and 180 grain bullets and some in between but the 125's sorta struck my fancy and I wondered if anyone had...

I got my first 81 today

I only had enough time to shoot it twice before dark but tomorrow is another day. I love this rifle and was worried I wouldnt be able to see through the peep site well enough to able to use it during deer season but I think I will be able to with no problem. It's in .300 Savage and it will go along ...
