81Police, Grade No.5 is the Expert or "E" grade which is what the stock was made for. The forearm serial numbered to another gun and was checkered in a No.6 Premiere or "F" grade pattern. I could not tell for sure from the photos by my guess would be the serial number on the trig...

The Remington Society has manufacturing date information on most models starting monthly in 1919.

It is difficult to find the link but it is there, look for Remington records book.

Clint,

I'd be very careful of the gun on gunbroker.

I do not believe it to be Remington engraving and the wood is not consistant with the Grade being represented in quality (Finest European/Circassin Walnut) or checkering pattern.
